During each election year, the HBA distributes a Judicial Candidate Qualification Poll to members before the primary, then a Judicial Preference Poll before the general election. The results of these polls are distributed to the media and the public at news conferences, and current poll results are available on the HBA Web site. The HBA also places paid advertising in the Houston Chronicle's Voter's Guide just prior to the elections, providing another means for the public to use the polls as tools for making informed voting decisions. In non-election years, the HBA conducts its Judicial Evaluation Poll, in which members are asked to evaluate all elected and appointed judges on a number of professional and ethical questions.
