Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the HBA is committed to educating and informing members of the Section and the HBA on the benefits and all aspects of mediation, arbitration and other forms of alternatives to litigation. Mediation is relatively new to the profession and the Courts of Texas as it did not begin to receive its widespread acceptance until the nineties.

The Section has a Council which meets monthly to plan the education programs which are also presented monthly from September until May. Currently, the programs are held at the South Texas College of Law at 7:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of the month.  Participants receive 1 hour of CLE credit.

The Section also co-hosts a Reception for the Judiciary in December in lieu of its regular monthly meeting.
