Harvest Party on Monday, November 16, 2009 from
7:00-10:00 p.m. at River Oaks Country Club. This gala evening is
the main annual fundraising event for the Houston Bar
Foundation, which supports legal services to low-income
Houstonians through the HBA's Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program. The deadline to
purchase Harvest Party tickets is noon on Wednesday, November 11.
No tickets will be sold at the door. For

All Day Ethics - November 7
The HBA's
Free All Day Ethics Institute will be held
on Saturday, November 7 from 9:00 a.m. -
4:00 p.m. in the Harris County Jury Assembly
Room, 1019 Congress Plaza. The institute
includes 6.0 hours ethics credit and is free
for HBA members and $25 for non-HBA members.
No RSVP is necessary to attend.

Judicial Portrait Unveilings
A portrait of the
Hon. Harvey Brown will be unveiled in a ceremony recognizing his service on the 152nd District Court on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at noon in the Ceremonial Courtroom of the Harris County Civil Courthouse, 201 Caroline. A portrait of the
Hon. Katie Kennedy will be unveiled in a ceremony recognizing her service on the 164th District Court on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the 164th District Court, 201 Caroline. All members of the judiciary, attorneys and friends are invited to attend these ceremonies.
Habitat Fund Drive
The
HBA's Habitat for Humanity Committee kicks off its annual fund drive
this month, with the goal of raising $65,000 to construct its 13th
Habitat home this spring. Please consider a donation. Donations can be made online at
www.houstonhabitat.org.

L.A.W. Fall Event at the Houston Arboretum
The HBA’s Lawyers Against Waste Committee will sponsor its first fall event
on Saturday, December 5, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the Houston
Arboretum & Nature Center, 4501 Woodway Drive, 77024. Volunteers are needed
to help with trail resurfacing, habitat restoration and boardwalk
renovations. If you have an interest in the environment and would like to
volunteer for the Lawyers Against Waste Fall Event at the Houston Arboretum

Special Olympics Volunteers Wanted
If you are looking for a rewarding volunteer experience, please consider
volunteering through the HBA Special Olympics Committee for the Texas
Special Olympics Bowling Tournament on Saturday, December 5, at Copperfield Bowl, 15615 Glen Chase Drive.
Volunteers serve as scorekeepers, act as buddies for special athletes, and assist with awards ceremonies. Family volunteers are welcome!
