Applying for Membership
The HBA fiscal year is July 1 to June 30. Anyone applying for membership after December 31 and until April 1, will pay half of the applicable dues. (Section dues not included.) If you are a member of the State Bar of Texas, this is your “present jurisdiction of practice.” If you are not a member of the State Bar of Texas, please indicate your licensing jurisdiction.
Your application must be accompanied by a check or money order for the appropriate amount. Also, we ask that you submit a 4×5 photograph (color or black and white) with your application. Please print your full name on the back of your photo. If no photograph is available, you may submit one at a later date.
Final approval of your application is subject to confirmation by the Houston Bar Association Board of Directors at its next regular monthly meeting. The board normally meets the third Tuesday of each month. You will be advised if any problems arise in connection with your application. You will be notified by mail of your acceptance to membership.
How to Join the HBA
Online dues renewal now available. To use this feature, you can either log in to your account or if you do not have an online account, you can create your online account by using the email address where you receive your HBA email announcements. Once created, you will be able to manage your HBA account at your convenience. (To create your online account, please click here.) Currently only Visa, MasterCard and Discover are accepted. If you would like to join or re-join a Section of the HBA, please remember to check the Section(s) on your dues statement and include the Section dues with your HBA dues.
