Mentor-Protégé Program

The HBA Mentor / Protégé Program

Mentor Program
The Mentor / Protégé Program pairs new attorneys with more experienced attorneys on an informal basis for the purpose of providing one-on-one guidance and advice to the newer attorneys (protégés.) A senior attorney will volunteer to serve as a mentor to a less experienced protégé for at least a period of one year, during which time the mentor and protégé are encouraged to meet on a monthly basis for discussions on mutually agreed topics.

The mentor will be encouraged to share experiences and provide counsel on such topics as professionalism, law practice economics and career advancement. The protégé should enter into the mentor relationship with the goal of career enhancement and professional development. The program is not designed to be a substitute for legal research, continuing legal education or to provide job hunting opportunities for new lawyers.

Mentors must have been licensed five years or more. Protégés are attorneys licensed three years or less. An attorney does not have to be a member of the Houston Bar Association to participate in the Mentor / Protégé Program.

If you are interested in applying for the HBA Mentor / Protégé Program, please click on the application below, fill it out and mail or fax it to the HBA office. The application can also be emailed to Ariana Ochoa.
