In response to the need for legal information and resources in the Spanish-speaking community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mexican-American Bar Association of Houston (MABAH) and the Hispanic Bar Association of Houston (HisBA), in partnership with the Houston Bar Association (HBA), announce Consejos Legales program returns May 7, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Spanish-speaking members of the public with general legal questions or COVID-19-related inquiries—including unemployment, eviction, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act), and more—can sign up online to have a lawyer call back with advice and additional resources to help resolve their legal issues. Consejos Legales in its new, remote format begins on May 7, and will be held every first Thursday of the month from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The HBA serves the community by making legal resources available and easily accessible. This new legal advice intake sign-up makes it easy for participants to get the information they need while HBA staff and local attorneys continue to work remotely.
