Joint Presentation by HYLA and HBA ADR Section
Advocacy in Mediation and Arbitration
This program will cover how to effectively advocate on behalf of clients in mediation and arbitration. Specifically, the panelists will address how to prepare for mediation, how to persuasively present a case during the mediation session, and how to use the mediator effectively. In addition, the panelists will discuss how advocacy in arbitration differs from that of litigation.
Speakers:
Roger Greenberg, Partner, Sponsel, Miller & Greenberg
Roger Greenberg is a founding partner with Sponsel, Miller, & Greenberg. His practice focuses primarily on civil litigation, securities disputes, and arbitration. Greenberg is an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and is a member of the Chartered Institutes of Arbitrators. Greenberg is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at South Texas College of Law Houston where he teaches Arbitration Law and a seminar on Trends in ADR & Litigation.

Brant Stogner, a board certified personal injury trial lawyer, is a Partner at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz & Stogner. Stogner has been recognized with dozens of accolades for his trial work and been named to the Top 100: Texas Super Lawyers and Top 100: Houston Super Lawyers lists for two consecutive years and to the Texas Super Lawyers list for eight consecutive years. He served as the 2018-2019 President of the South Texas College of Law Houston Alumni Association and was the inaugural recipient of the South Texas College of Law Houston's Young Alumni Award.

Debra Berman is the Director of the Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution and an Associate Clinical Professor at South Texas College of Law Houston. Her course load includes Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mediation Theory & Practice, the 40-Hour Mediation Training, and the Mediation Clinic. She has instructed more than 800 students and local attorneys through the Evans Center mediation certification program.
