Seminars

HBA/CLE Seminars are held on Thursday mornings in the West Loop area and on Friday afternoons in the Harris County Jury Assembly Plaza. Each seminar is approved for 1.5 hours of MCLE credit, and many also have ethics credit. These seminars are free to HBA members and provide over 50 hours of MCLE credit at no cost each year. Written materials are available for $15. Non-members may attend for $50, including written materials.

Certifications

Attorneys who would like to earn a certificate in Guardianship Ad Litem in the Probate Courts can watch a video in the HBA office.

Effective September 1, 2015, new legislation now requires a 4-hour certification course for attorneys who want to serve as guardian ad litems in the probate courts. Attorneys applicants of guardianship must also be certified. One hour of the certification course must be on alternatives to guardianship. The HBA is now offering a video of its “2015 Guardian Ad Litem in the Probate Courts Institute,” which meets certification requirements. The cost to watch the video is $70 for HBA members; $140 for non-members. To schedule an appointment in the HBA office, contact Ashley Steininger at 713-759-1133.
