HBA CLE Update, November 13 – 20, 2019

No pre-registration is required. Each seminar is approved for 1.5 hours of MCLE credit, and many offer ethics credit as well. These seminars are free to HBA members, providing over 50 hours of MCLE credit per year at no cost.

For some seminars, written materials are available for up to $15. The CLE Department makes these written materials available after many of its seminars and institutes. If you would like to purchase written materials, please contact the CLE Department at (713) 759-1133 or email Ashley Steininger. Written materials will be charged an 8.25% sales tax.

Non-members may attend for a $50 fee that covers written materials.

The HBA presents a four-part yoga CLE series, “The Mindful Law Firm,” with licensed attorney and yoga instructor Justine Fanarof, JD, MPH, E-RYT 500.

HBA members and nonmember attorneys of all yoga skill levels are welcome. Each session is different, and is accredited for 1.5 hours of MCLE, including .5 hour of ethics. All occur at the Hines Center for Spirituality and Prayer between 4:15 and 5:45 p.m. Please bring a yoga mat and two yoga blocks, and wear comfortable clothing that supports and contains you.

Attorneys who would like to earn a certificate in Guardianship Ad Litem in the Probate Courts can watch a video in the HBA office.

Effective September 1, 2015, new legislation now requires a 4-hour certification course for attorneys who want to serve as guardian ad litems in the probate courts. Attorneys applicants of guardianship must also be certified. One hour of the certification course must be on alternatives to guardianship. The HBA is now offering a video of its “2015 Guardian Ad Litem in the Probate Courts Institute,” which meets certification requirements. The cost to watch the video is $70 for HBA members; $140 for non-members. To schedule an appointment in the HBA office, contact Ashley Steininger at (713) 759-1133 or ashleyg@hba.org.
