The HBA has three legal handbooks available for the public. These handbooks are prepared by attorneys who are experts in their respective fields, and are written in an easy to read, question and answer format. The handbooks are updated after every Texas Legislative session (every 2 years.)

The current version of each handbook is available in full digitally. Feel free to view, download and print any of the PDFs below.

Residents of Harris County are welcome to call the HBA’s LegalLine program for free, anonymous, simple legal advice over the phone from licensed volunteer attorneys. The program takes place on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in English, and the first Thursday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Spanish, at (713) 759-1133.
