Join the Houston Bar Foundation for its Annual Meeting and Luncheon on February 14, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis. Travis Torrence of Shell Oil Company will become the new chair of the Houston Bar Foundation, succeeding Barrett Reasoner of Gibbs & Bruns LLP.
The Foundation will honor HBA Executive Director Kay Sim for more than four decades of leadership in the Houston Bar Association. The keynote speaker will be Whitney Mercilus, outside linebacker for the Houston Texans, who in 2016 launched his WithMerci Foundation, which has raised more than $325,000 to advocate for services and support for families of children with disabilities and special needs.
The Hon. Eva M. Guzman (Supreme Court of Texas) will receive the James B. Sales Pro Bono Leadership Award. The Foundation also will present its annual awards for excellence in pro bono service through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers, volunteer mediation service through the Dispute Resolution Center, and legal writing in The Houston Lawyer, the HBA’s bi-monthly magazine.
Tickets are $135 per person. Tables of eight ($1,080) and 10 ($1,350) are also available.
