Houston Bar Association Welcomes Mindy G. Davidson as New Executive Director

Mindy G. Davidson has joined the Houston Bar Association as the new executive director. Ms. Davidson is an attorney with three decades of corporate and nonprofit leadership, advising executive management and boards in strategy, fiscal and fiduciary responsibility, governance, and law. She succeeds long-time executive director Kay Sim, who retired March 1.

“I am inspired by the commitment of the HBA staff to serving the needs of the Houston-area lawyers and our community,” she said. “It is an honor, and I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and the HBA staff to build on this strong foundation as we approach the HBA’s 150th anniversary.”

Ms. Davidson has spent her career advising clients on the design, implementation and administration of broad-based and executive compensation and benefits strategies, most recently as a Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal and before that as Lead Counsel, Compensation and Benefits for LyondellBasell. Prior to joining LyondellBasell, Ms. Davidson practiced with Andrews Kurth LLP (now Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP).

“We are excited to have Mindy join us as executive director, building on Kay Sim’s enormous contributions to the HBA,” said HBA President Warren Harris. “Mindy’s legal background will be a great asset as she leads us in this time of change. I look forward to the new energy and insight she will bring to the HBA.”

Ms. Davidson is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Boston University School of Law, where she served as editor of the Probate Law Journal. She holds certification with distinction in Nonprofit Leadership and certification in Nonprofit Finance, both from the Rice University Center for Philanthropic & Nonprofit Leadership. She also holds a Senior Certified Professional certificate from the Society for Human Resource Management. Ms. Davidson is a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Area Women’s Center and is a Leader in the Center for Women in Law.
