CLE Webinar: Best Practices for Making Requests for Law Enforcement/Prosecutorial Records and Responding to Criminal Discovery
Fri, January 19, 2024
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Requesting public information is simple. But what do you do when your Public Information Act request addressed to a law enforcement or prosecutorial agency results in a response that the records you’re seeking are exempt from disclosure? This webinar, presented by Assistant District Attorneys with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, will address why some records aren’t subject to release, best practices for when and how to make successful PIA requests for law enforcement and prosecution records, and alternative methods of obtaining information. This webinar will also touch on some best practices for responding to criminal discovery.

The HBA adopted the following policy for judicial campaigning at HBA events:
There should be no active campaigning, no literature distributed, no buttons worn, essentially nothing to indicate that a judge is in a contested race, and certainly nothing urging a favorable vote. Judges and judicial candidates may serve on HBA committee(s) and appear in HBA programs.
