CLE Webinar: Legal Developments Impacting Employer DEI Initiatives
Fri, June 14, 2024
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
In the last 12 months, there have been an increasing number of legal challenges to DEI programs and initiatives operated by private employers. This presentation will discuss those developments, and answer some of the most important questions currently being asked by business clients, including: (1) Did the U.S. Supreme Court’s Students for Fair Admissions decisions impact the legal framework for private company DEI programs?; (2) How does Title VII of the Civil Rights Act apply to DEI programs?; and (3) What can a private company do to minimize its risk of individual “reverse discrimination” or shareholder derivative claims, while still maintaining its commitment to DEI?

The HBA adopted the following policy for judicial campaigning at HBA events:
There should be no active campaigning, no literature distributed, no buttons worn, essentially nothing to indicate that a judge is in a contested race, and certainly nothing urging a favorable vote. Judges and judicial candidates may serve on HBA committee(s) and appear in HBA programs.
