Texas Usury Laws

This CLE will offer an overview of what you should know about Texas usury laws, including application to different transactions, parties and charges, as well as exceptions and defenses.  It will cover some background, history and public policy reasons for the rules; administrative and judicial enforcement and developments; traps for the unwary; and an opportunity to ask questions.  Form excel spreadsheet will be made available for simplifying interest calculations.  It will also cover the importance of identifying the client when preparing any kind of document involving interest changes, and hazards when demanding usurious interest.
