The HBA has given their time, their talent, and their resources to all areas of The HAY Center for the past 10 years. Through the HBA HAY Center Committee, over 150 lawyers have volunteered at The HAY Center at a variety of events. Their efforts around the HAY Center holiday event has created lasting memories for hundreds of current and former foster youth.
Christine Herron, a member of the HBA, in the spirit of being a good steward to our community, has been volunteering with The HAY Center for 9 years. She chose to volunteer with The HAY Center because she wants to give to foster youth in the Houston area. Christine spends her time providing mock interviews for first-time job seekers as well as volunteering at youth engagement events including the Thanksgiving, Holiday, and Prom events. Christine says, “Volunteering local is very important to me. I like volunteering with The HAY Center- you can see the direct impact of your volunteer work.”
The HAY Center Director, Mary Green, expresses gratitude for everything the HBA does for The HAY Center, "The HBA was one of our first volunteer groups, and without their partnership, we would not be where we are today. We depend on them to ensure that all of our youth engagement events have the community interaction our youth appreciate. The experience they provide foster youth is more important than a stocking or a gift card. They allow our youth to see that our community cares about them and wants them to achieve their goals. We are so fortunate they have remained one of our important partners."
